Lancaster YRs win Congressman Pitts’ Croquet Tournament!

Kennett Square, PA - On Saturday, August 14th, the Lancaster County Young Republicans pulled out a come-from-behind victory against the Chester County Young Republicans in the annual YR Croquet Tournament. Since 2008, Congressman Joseph Pitts graciously hosts the two counties each year at his home. The Chester YRs, in their coordinated t-shirts, were no match for Warren, Pam, Stephanie, and Eric (Berks County) as they eliminated the last Chester team. Chester put up a good fight and eliminated all but one Lancaster team early in the match, though they would ultimately have to surrender the trophy.

Our sincere thanks to Congressman Pitts, his wife and staff for their hospitality. Everyone had a wonderful time and we look forward to defending the title in 2011.

The Lancaster County Young Republicans have announced the date and location of the YR Picnic which will serve to honor campaign volunteers who work to get exceptional Republicans elected across the Commonwealth, and keep them elected!

The Lancaster County Young Republicans, Commissioner Martin, Senator Smucker, Ryan Aument, Keith Vogt, and MaryAnn Gerber invite you and your family to join us on Saturday, August 28th from 3:00-7:00pm at Millersville Freedom Memorial Park. There will be food and drinks provided, activities and games for adults and children.

Wonderful evening with the Barnstormers for “Faith and Family Night”

Thank you to all who supported the YRs at this fundraiser. We enjoyed a close game and a Barnstormers win, with a post-game fireworks show that was incredible! Families were also invited to play on the field after the game while Matt Goss and his band from LCBC Church performed.

Awards Given at PAYR Leadership Conference: I am proud to announce that the Lancaster County Young Republicans have won the award for the best Large YR Club in Pennsylvania as well as the award for best grassroots organization. These awards were given out at the PAYR Leadership Conference on the weekend of August 14-16 in Pittsburgh. They acknowledge the hard work of LCYRs past and present.

Congressman Joe Pitts’ Croquet Tournament: YRs from Lancaster and Chester Counties enjoyed a beautiful afternoon at the home of Congressman Joe Pitts on Saturday August 15th. The croquet was competitive and a good time was had by all. We look forward to the rematch next year!

Our guest speakers for this exciting roundtable discussion were Representative Bryan Cutler and Representative John Bear. Everyone enjoyed the candid discussion about reforming state government and the future of the party.

YR Leadership Forum a Huge Success

A large crowd gathered on Wednesday, Feb. 4th to attend the The Future of the GOP: A YR Leadership Forum. Our featured speakers included Commissioner Scott Martin, Clerk of Courts Ryan Aument, and Prothonotary Randall Wenger. We heard their thoughts on the challenges faced by the party, solutions to those problems, and charting a bright future for the GOP. Legislative duties prevented Rep. Bryan Cutler and Rep. John Bear from attending, but we look forward to hosting them soon.
